This course will familiarize students with facts surrounding the act of suicide. Students will learn how to identify protective factors and risk factors for suicide, and will gain a better understanding of motivations for the act of suicide.  Students will learn the verbal and behavioral indicators of increased suicide risk and will learn practical guidelines and resources for how to intervene with someone believed to be at increased risk for suicide.  Students will also gain greater understanding of the challenges faced by those who lost someone to suicide, and how to provide support to impacted individuals.
